About this speaker

Gerna is a qualified speech-language pathologist.

She has worked with countless non-verbal individuals, especially individuals with Rett syndrome, and has given them a voice through AAC. She believes that everyone should have access to autonomous communication and delights in the process of training people around the non-verbal individual. By training them up and equipping them with the knowledge and skills they need to serve others, they will be able to respond in the right way.

Gerna is the certified PODD trainer for the Netherlands, works together with the Dutch Rett Syndrome Association (NRSV) in facilitating national professional networks and she is experienced in using various brands of eye-gaze devices .

She operates as an independent practitioner from her own practice called Response-Able.
