About this speaker

Jaquie Mills is the parent of a 29-year old son who has Complex Communication Needs (CCN). She has worked in a wide range of areas supporting people who experience high support needs, CCN and challenging behaviour.

She developed the β€˜Is There a Better Way?’ program, now in its 7th year of helping families, schools and services to understand challenging behaviour and its relationship with communication rights.

Jaquie developed the Graduate Certificate in Complex Communication Needs at Edith Cowan University in Western Australia. She facilitates a weekly communication peer group for adults with complex communication needs, and with them has developed resources to support people with CCN to engage in their own life planning.

Jaquie is managing director of Microboards Australia, an organisation which develops microboards – a group of committed friends, family and community who support people with disability to plan and achieve the life they want.
