A Talk by Karen Erickson and David Koppenhaver
About this Talk
In this presentation, we will begin by defining emergent and conventional literacy and why both are important for all learners, including those with Rett syndrome.
After defining both forms of literacy, we will describe a simple approach to determine whether a learner needs instruction focused on emergent or conventional literacy.
Finally, we will describe the components of comprehensive emergent or conventional literacy instruction.
Throughout the presentation, we will describe what is possible for people with Rett syndrome.
This presentation is 150 minutes.
